I'm hoping our oppo Aston Martin Wizard EL_ULY can chime in on this one.
I was hunting on Autotrader Yesterday and found that DB9's are not that crazy expensive to buy used(read: still expensive for some people) for around 60K-70K you can buy 2005-2007 DB9's all with under 50000 km's (31000 miles). Seems like a good deal to me but I could be wrong.

you can also get newer V8 Vantages for even less but if you buy an aston you want a V12.

That is actually not a bad deal whatsoever. Would you care to post some of the ones you found? Any DB-S's in the list?

That is the price most are going for. High mileage believe it or not for a DB9, we rarely seen them past 20-25K. Those aren't actually too bad. Most of the common interior bits that peel, flake, or break and are done by the customer unlike the newer cars that just fall apart on their own lol. Just have all the service paperwork and history on hand. Some of them have various models that fail but some don't see that. Occasional head light condensation for exaMple and other random trim stuff. Pretty solid for the most part. but like ALL cars, it's all about from which batch it is, a good of bad. Also, who the heck owned it before you.

Really 30000 miles is considered high mileage on these? yikes! I was thinking you could do at least 100000 miles on these without a major overhaul. If I'm spending 200000K new 0n a car I would expect it to be better than that.
So a E60 M5 (same mileage) for 30000K would probably be a much smarter buy.

An e60 m5 is always the smarter purchase

I'm not saying it's all worn out at 30K at all. It's just that they don;t really come in to the dealer with those kind of miles, any Aston. People honestly just have them parked for years at home. I'm sure this almost 80% FoMoCo car will last a long while and that's even if driven hard. As far and non drivetrain stuff like window regulators, trim, and various bits, Astons are not famous for. "Hand build in England" is not what you'd expect. A bunch of engineers do not put them together. Just blokes :] They do good work obviously but i've seen some odd things come from there. Be prepared for maintenance costs, at least here at the dealer, they are not cheap.

so if anything it would be odds and end's that could need fixing and not really motor/tranny stuff. good to know. I'm not planning on buying anything any time soon but it's good to know something like this is attainable.
Thanks for your input.

yeah dude, they are solid and can be driven hard. I sill don;t trust the new stuff as much but something like that are solid. It's just the random other bits that get that classic British ...meh... treatment.

I really want to pick up a 4.7l V8 Vantage at some point soon. Pretty certain they're going to balloon in price like E-Types at some point in the future.
